Dr. Heather Highbrown, DVM

Dr. Highbrown moved to the wonderful Tampa Bay area from upstate New York, seeking to be closer to her family that has been in the area for over 20 years. With a bachelor’s degree in pre-med/environmental sciences from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, she went on to earn her DVM degree from Ross University, completing her clinical year at the University of Minnesota.

For 11 years, she poured her heart into a small-town animal hospital in upstate New York, but after moving to Florida and working a few years at corporate hospitals, she felt a disconnect from both her clients and the community. With a shared vision, she and her husband took a courageous step to establish Paws Bay Animal Hospital. Their goal is to rekindle that special bond with clients and patients alike, fostering a nurturing environment where pets receive the compassionate care they deserve, and their owners can feel supported and informed every step of the way.

At home, she shares her love with two adorable rescue small terrier mixes, Finn and Rye, along with a sweet Persian cat named Miles and a feisty old lady cat, Luna. During their days off, the family dives into all the wonderful activities available in the Tampa area, making sure their toddler son is engaged and learning while having a blast.
